At Restoration of Planet Earth (Kenya), we engage with communities to design long-lasting and practical solutions for water security, community health, climate change mitigation, and resilience ECDE. It is through local efforts that we achieve restoration of the environment, community well-being, and resilience for a sustainable future.
Access to water in communities is achieved through the use of affordable technology like sand dams and rainwater harvesting on rooftops.
Our strategy for achieving this will be the creation of WASH programs whereby community health ambassadors will be empowered with the right information and skills to live healthily.
Our community-level activities include tree planting, afforestation through native species and Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), for landscape rehabilitation, biodiversity conservation, soil and water security and increasing resilience to climate change.
This is achieved through the provision of solar lights which provide security for the centers while enabling environmental education programs for children, hence fostering their relationship with the environment.
Children form the basis of resilient communities. This is why we work with ECDE centers in offering environmental lessons and eco-solutions like solar lighting. By ensuring that there is a safer and greener environment for learning, we are instilling in our children the value of nature and the need for taking care of it.
